As 2025 rolls in…

It’s (another) new year – well actually it’s March already, but in an effort to keep up to date –
here goes!

After eighteen months with us Elly has moved on to pastures new – we wish her well.
Harry will now step up. Harry (19) is also a first-time farmer and has been with us for just
over a year.

After increasing the herd to 80+ sows last year, we are decreasing again and plan to have a
steady herd of 50 mum’s going forward. This will mean we can produce almost all our own
feed for the herd and give them more field space to graze and dig over the coming year.

We are welcoming more and more visitors to our Farm Hub and we have a new mobility
vehicle with a grant from the Removing Barriers Fund. It’s open every day and free to use –
just call us if you would like to book the electric vehicle!

We have our own pork available to buy from the farm and we now produce Nitrate&Nitrite-
free bacon – just as good albeit slightly darker in colour.

We have planted our wheat/bean bi-crop already this year and we have just started on the
pea/barley mixture – with some oats too – you’ll be able to see the new shoots as they
appear.

Our next project is QR codes at each field so that path users can see exactly what is
happening, and why!
